Sawyer continued her ascent to the top of the journalism game when she became the first female correspondent on the landmark show, 60 Minutes, where she thrived for five years no doubtedly helping to rank the show among the five top-watched programs in the United States. In 1989, at age 44, Diane hit career pay dirt when she made the wise decision to join the ABC News team, where for the next two decades, she’d co-anchor popular newsmagazines including, Primetime Live, 20/20 and morning news program, Good Morning America.
Sawyer succeeded Charles Gibson on ABC World News in 2009, where she still acts as the network’s principal anchor today. Equally as successful in her personal life as in her career, Diane has been married to famed director, writer and producer, Mike Nichols for twenty-five years.
