Matt Lauer has an estimated net worth of $60 million dollars

Matt Lauer is an American television journalist with an estimated net worth of $60 million. Lauer is most famous for being the host of NBC’s The Today Show. Lauer is 5’11 and his weight is 180. Matthew Todd Lauer was born on December 30, 1957 in New York City, New York. Lauer’s father was a business executive and his mother a boutique owner but they divorced when he was young. Lauer’s formative years were fairly nondescript until he attended Ohio University’s School of Telecommunications. He dropped out of the school before receiving his degree in 1979, although the university would award him the remaining credits he needed – based on his journalism experience – in 1997.

Lauer’s professional career started as soon as he dropped out of college when he took a job as the producer of the noon news telecast for a channel in Huntington, West Virginia. He first stepped in front of the camera regularly about a year later, in 1980, when he became an on-air reporter for the afternoon and evening newscasts. Like many broadcasters, Lauer traversed the country looking for the best career opportunity including hosting programs in markets like Boston, Philadelphia and Richmond. In 1986 he co-hosted the Made in New York program for its entire 15-week run and took other broadcasting jobs at ESPN and for other sports shows. His style and delivery began to catch on and he began getting bigger and bigger jobs, eventually landing at NBC in 1992, first the local affiliate in New York City and then for the network. After filling in as a newsreader on the Today Show regularly from 1992-1993 he joined the show full time in 1994.

The network began to use Lauer across several platforms – co-hosting Weekend Today, filling in for Tom Brokaw on NBC Nightly News  and as co-anchor for  Ann Curry on NBC News at Sunrise from 1992-1997 – and his exposure increased until he was named the Today Show’s official co-anchor early in 1997. His stature has increased to where he is among the most popular broadcasters in the country, with commensurate salary (currently $25 million annually). Over the years, many of his interviews with top notch celebrities and other controversial figures have become major news stories themselves, including his argument with Tom Cruise over psychiatry in 2005 and a 2006 interview with Ann Coulter that degenerated into virtual name calling. His widespread appeal and fame has led to the expected guest roles on everything from Sesame Street,  to Will and Grace to movies like Land of the Lost. He has also hosted such important events as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and multiple Winter and Summer Olympics. Lauer was married to his first wife, a television producer, from 1981-1988. He would then marry Dutch model Annette Roque. They have three children together and though they had once separated they reconciled and remain together.
