A recent press release from a wine shop in the Dubai International Airport claims to be selling ”the world’s most expensive bottle of red wine to ever be retailed.” In Terminal 3, in the Le Clos wine there are currently three Balthazars of Château Margaux 2009 priced at $195,000 each. This is the first time Bordeaux wine producers have bottled Balhazars and they claim this 2009 vintage as “one of the best”. To celebrate the release of the most expensive wine ever to sell in a retail store we found the the rest of the world’s most expensive wines:

Romanée Conti was produced during WWII and only 600 bottles were created. This is an incredibly rare wine. The last bottle sold went to a Y.S. collector who paid $123,900 for a bottle of the stuff. It sold in record-breaking time at Christie’s fine-wine auction.
1787 Chateau Lafite: $160,000
Malcolm Forbes purchased this bottle of wine in 1985. It is said that the bottle is part of Thomas Jefferson’s collection and features his initials on the bottle. Forbes paid $160,000 for the bottle which now equates to $315,000. The wine is no longer drinkable but is quite the collector’s item to have on display.
