Sean “P.Diddy” Combs is an American rapper, record producer, and entrepreneur with an estimated net worth of $580 million. Combs has topped Forbes‘ list as The Wealthiest Hip-Hop Artist for two consecutive years. Combs is 6’0″ and weighs 170 pounds. Sean John Combs was born on November 4, 1969 in Harlem, New York. Combs’ family lived in Harlem projects when he was born but he grew up in Mount Vernon. His father, Melvin, was a known associate of convicted drug dealer and was killed when he was 33 and Combs was just a child. His mother worked as a model and teacher’s assistant. He played football in high school and says that’s where he got the nickname “Puff Daddy.”

Although he was enjoying great success, some of that was tempered by a growing feud with the West Coast’s Death Row Records, which eventually would result in the deaths of both of studios’ biggest stars, Biggie and Tupac Shakur. For his part, Combs would break out as a performer in his own right in 1997 with this debut single “Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down,” which spent 28 weeks on the Billboard Hot chart, including time at No. 1. His debut album, No Way Out, reached No. 1 in its first week on the charts and sold 561,000 copies.

His star would only go up from there as Combs won a Grammy the following year and would go on to release five more commercially and critically successful albums. He parlayed his success as a performer and record label mogul into many other pursuits including acting – he starred in 5 films, including Made (2001), Monster’s Ball (2001) and Get Him to the Greek (2010) —  a highly successful clothing line, Sean John, and helped develop the Ciroc vodka brand for a share of its profits.
