50 Cent is an American hip-hop artist, entrepreneur, and actor with an estimated net worth of $260 million. A few of his hit singles are “Hate It or Love It,”  “Candy Shop,” and “In Da Club.” He is six feet tall and weighs 220 pounds. Curtis James Jackson III was born on July 6, 1975 in Queens, New York. Raised initially by a single mother who made ends meet by dealing drugs, 50 Cent was forced to live with his grandparents after his mother was murdered when he was 8. 50 Cent would also deal drugs in his youth although he had dreams of being a boxer. He began rapping in high school but also turned to a life of drug dealing which culminated in a shooting incident where he suffered multiple wounds.

After the incident, 50 Cent dedicated himself to rapping and formed G-Unit, which soon drew interest from rap icons Eminem and Dr. Dre. The duo produced his first album, Get Rich or Die Tryin’, in 2003 and it was a huge success eventually selling 9 million units thanks in large part to the hit “In Da Club.” 50 Cent’s follow up album, The Massacre, was also a smash success selling over 1 million copies in four days and holding the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 list for 6 weeks. Two more albums would follow in the first decade of the new century, both with widespread appeal and commercial success.

Since reaching worldwide fame as a rapper, 50 Cent has diversified his business and artistic portfolio. Since 2005, he has starred in over 20 films, from leading parts to small roles. He’s also published an autobiography, From Pieces to Weight: once upon a Time in Southside Queens, launched a publishing company and established a sports entertainment business as a boxing promoter. 50 Cent also made a reported $100 million profit on his stake in vitamin water drink after it was purchased by Coca-Cola. He has once child with a former girlfriend.
