Ross would leave The Supremes in 1969 to pursue a solo career, which garnered her just as much success, including the hit “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” in 1970. Ross would go on to record several more popular albums like Diana in 1980 and The Force Behind the Power in 1991. She would also become an accomplished actress, starting with her debut role as Billie Holiday in Lady Sings the Blues in 1972 which earned her an Oscar nomination for best actress. She would go on to act in Mahogany in 1975 and alongside Michael Jackson in The Wiz in 1978. Ross would continue to perform and act will into the new century. In her career, she has won a Golden Globe, Tony and several American Music awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.
