Roland Emmerich has an estimated net worth of $110 million

Roland Emmerich is a German screenwriter, film producer, and film director with an estimated net worth of $110 million. A few of Emmerich’s notable films are White House Down, Independence Day, and The Day After Tomorrow. His films have grossed over $3 billion worldwide. Emmerich was born on November 10, 1955 in Stuttgart, Germany. His father owned a garden machinery production company and paid for his son to travel around North America and the United States in his youth. Drawn to the cinematic arts from an early age, Emmerich enrolled in the University of Television and Film in Munich in 1977. Originally, he was studying production design, but after watching Star Wars, switched to directing. His senior thesis, a full-length feature called The Noah’s Ark Principle, would go on to be filmed at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1984.

Emmerich created Centropolis Films in 1985 and he would go on to direct several films including Joey, Hollywood-Monster (1987) and Moon 44 in 1990. The movies were filmed in Germany but made in English, and years later would be released in the United States. Emmerich got his first break in America when well known producer Mario Kassar invited him to direct a project, although it was eventually scrapped. Still, he was now in Hollywood and would soon be hired to replace the director of 1992’s Universal Soldier. The film was financially successful and gave Emmerich a foothold as a viable sci-fi director, a talent he would then capitalize on with Stargate in 1994 which broke box office records (for an October release) and the wildly popular Independence Day in 1996.

Emmerich’s commercial success would continue with 1998’s Godzilla, although the movie was panned it made close to $380 million worldwide. In the new century, Emmerich’s status as a Hollywood heavyweight would continue as he directed Mel Gibson in The Patriot, The Day After Tomorrow (2004) and 2012 (2009). He would go on to direct White House Down in 2013, another high-profile, commercially successful film. Emmerich is an outspoken supporter of gay and lesbian rights and has frequently criticized Hollywood for racist and homophobic transgressions.
