Michael Bay is an American film director and producer who has an estimated net worth of $400 million. Michael is 6’1″ and weighs 190 pounds. Michael Benjamin Bay was born on February 17, 1965 in Los Angeles, California. Michael was raised by his adoptive parents, a book store owner and an accountant. He credits his early start in filmmaking with the fascination he developed after strapping firecrackers to a toy train and then filming the results. He attended a renowned prep school and got his official start in movies as an intern on George Lucas’ Raiders of the Lost Ark, where he filed storyboards. The experience convinced him to become a director and he went on to study film at Wesleyan University and then at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena for his graduate degree.

At school, he directed a Coca Cola commercial for a student project which gained the attention of company execs who offered him a chance to do it commercially. His subsequent Coke, Nike, Budweiser and “Got Milk” ads won him the 1994 Director’s Guild nomination for Best Commercial Director in 1994. Bay also directed music videos for numerous high-profile musicians, including Tina Turner, Meat Loaf and Lionel Richie. His success in commercials soon turned to celluloid as producers Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer tapped him to direct his first feature length action movie, Bad Boys, in 1995. The film was a commercial success and led to his second project, The Rock, which established Bay as a rising star in Hollywood in 1996. Bay’s directorial style – rapid edits, extreme angles, radical lighting, etc. –became his calling card and redefined the action genre.

Bay’s early success continued with more big-budget, high earning productions in quick succession, including Armageddon (1998), Pearl Harbor (2001) and Bad Boys II. Bay then expanded his repertoire to producing and came out with a procession of horror pictures – including The Amityville Horror, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th among others – which were successful, although not critically acclaimed. His next major success involved the Transformers franchise, which earned him about $200 million individually.
