Harvey would become a certifiable comedy star in 1999, when he, Cedric the Entertainer, Bernie Mac and D.L. Hughley embarked on The Kings of Comedy Tour, which would become the highest grossing comedy tour in history.
The tour would lead to Spike Lee’s The Original Kings of Comedy documentary (2000), which raked in $38 million with a production cost of only $3 million. Harvey has parlayed the success of the tour and subsequent film into a virtual empire going on to host a daily radio show which is now nationally syndicated, a variety of television projects – including Steve Harvey’s Big Time – and a number of acting roles in Hollywood films. In 2009, Harvey’s star would grow with the release of his book, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, and its follow up, Straight Talk, No Chaser which both were bestsellers. His stature as an iconic celebrity was cemented when he was chosen to host Family Feud in 2010. Harvey has been married three times and has four children.
