He is best known for starring on the sitcom The Steve Harvey Show and being one of the “Original Kings of Comedy.” He is 5’6″ and weighs 220 pounds. Cedric Antonio Kyles was born on April 24, 1964 in Jefferson City, Missouri. His mother was a school teacher and his father a railroad company employee. He attended high school in a suburb of St. Louis and went to college at Southeast Missouri State University where he majored in Mass Communication, later taking a job as a State Farm claims adjuster and substitute teacher.

Cedric would leave his regular jobs to pursue a career in comedy and had his first success appearing on It’s Showtime at the Apollo and HBO’s Def Comedy Jam. He also made appearances on BET’s ComicView and would go on to host the show for the 1993-1994 season. Not long after, Cedric would parlay his comedic talents onto the small screen with a recurring role on The Steve Harvey Show. The role and his association with Harvey proved to be a boon for Cedric as he joined the former and Bernie Mack and D.L. Hughley in the wildly successful Kings of Comedy Tour in the late 1990s. The tour was eventually made into a movie by Spike Lee, The Original Kings of Comedy, that proved to be a commercial hit and established Cedric as a legitimate star.

The tour and movie proved to be a big break for Cedric as he would land several supporting roles in movies like Barbershop (2002), Barbershop 2: Back in Business (2004), Johnson Family Vacation (2004), Man of the House (2005), Madagascar (2005) and Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins (2008). He also had his own sketch comedy show, Cedric the Entertainer Presents, in 2002, but it did not last long. He made his directorial debut with Dance Fu in 2010 and continues to expand his range, recently playing a character in David Mamet’s American Buffalo on Broadway. He is currently the host of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and has several other projects in the works. He is married and has two children.
