Tony Gonzalez has an estimated net worth of $9 million

Tony Gonzalez is an American football player with an estimated net worth of $9 million. Gonzalez is a tight end for the Atlanta Falcons. He is 6’5 and weighs 243 pounds. Anthony David Gonzalez was born on February 27, 1976 in Torrance, California. Gonzalez was raised by his mother, who worked two jobs to support her children. He was a standout athlete in high school, playing football, baseball and basketball for Huntington Beach High. Gonzalez would go on to share high school athlete of the year honors in Orange County with none other than Tiger Woods and eventually chose to attend the University of California, Berkeley. For the Golden Bears, Gonzalez was an exceptional tight end earning All-American honors. He also played college basketball before giving the sport up to focus on football. Gonzalez gave up his final year of college eligibility to declare for the 1997 NFL Draft and was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs with the 13th pick.

After a solid rookie campaign in 1998, Gonzalez began to distinguish himself in his second professional season with the Chiefs, catching 59 passes for 621 yards and 2 touchdowns in 1998. His stats would continue to improve the next year when he caught 78 passes for 849 yards and 11 touchdowns. In his first three years, Gonzalez established himself as one of the best tight ends in football, but his career would only improve in the new century. From 2000 to 2006, Gonzalez averaged 79 receptions, almost 1,000 yards and 6.5 touchdowns on his way to making the Pro Bowl every year. He caught a tight end record 102 passes in 2004 and in 2007 he would break the record for career touchdowns for his position. Eventually, he would go on to collect the record for most receptions and yardage for the position.

After a remarkable career for the Chiefs, Gonzalez requested a trade from the team when he became disenchanted with the team’s failure to consistently become a Super Bowl contender. He was eventually traded to the Atlanta Falcons in 2010 and continued to produce at a high level, coming close to matching most of his career averages for touchdowns, receptions and yardage. Although the Falcons have come close to the Super Bowl they have yet to reach it with Gonzalez. As of 2013, Gonzalez continues to play at a high level. In 2009, Gonzalez co-wrote a book, The All-Pro Diet, which focuses on his nutritional regimen which includes vegan components. Gonzalez is married and has three children, including one from a previous relationship.
