Juuwan Howard has an estimated net worth of $80 million
Juwan Howard is a former American professional basketball player with an estimated net worth of $80 million. He is 6’9″ and weighs 250 pounds. Juwan Antonio Howard was born on February 7, 1973 in Chicago, Illinois to a teenaged mother. His mother didn’t want to be burdened with the responsibilities of raising a child so he was raised by his maternal grandmother. He never formed a close bond with his biological parents, however he was his grandmother’s pride and joy. Although they lived in several ghettos in the South Side of Chicago, Howard’s granny kept him out of trouble.
Juwan Howard attended Chicago Vocational Career Academy where he played for the school’s varsity basketball team. His high school had no locker rooms and an unheated gym. The team had to get dressed in a history classroom for games. Regardless of the odds against him, Howard excelled on the court and was named 1991 All-American basketball player by PARADE magazine and won McDonald’s All-American.
In 1991 Howard was recruited to play college basketball at the University of Michigan. The Wolverine’s roster included The Fab Five, Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Jimmy King, Ray Jackson, and Juwan Howard. The Wolverines accomplished many things between 1992-1998 but all was forfeited after the University of Michigan basketball scandal. The scandal involved the university giving booster payments to players to launder money from illegal gambling. Despite the controversy, Howard’s 1993-94 All-American title is still recognized.
Juwan Howard entered the 1994 NBA draft and was selected as the Washington Bullets (now Washington Wizards) fifth overall pick. During Howard’s 19 year career as a NBA player he played with a number of teams including: Washington Bullets/Wizards (1994-2001), Dallas Mavericks (2001-2002;2007-2008), Denver Nuggets (2002-2003, 2008), Orlando Magic (2003-2004), Houston Rockets (2004-2007), Charlotte Bobcats (2008-2009), Portland Trail Blazers (2009-2010), and Miami Heat (2010-2013). Howard did not become an NBA Champion until the later years of his career. He earned two consecutive championships playing with the Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013.
On September 28, 2013 the Miami Heat announced some changes within the organization. Howard retired as player and remained with the Heat as an assistant coach.
