Cam Newton has an estimated net worth of $6 million
Cam Newton is an American professional football player with an estimated net worth of $6 million. He is currently a quarterback for the Carolina Panthers. Newton is 6’5″ and weighs 245 pounds. Cameron Jerrell Newton was born on May 11, 1989 in Atlanta, Georgia. Newton attended Westlake High School and had an impressive career gaining the attention of a multitude of college football programs. He was highly rated as a dual-threat quarterback, equally effective running or throwing the ball, and was ranked among the top prospects in the nation. Although he initially chose to attend the University of Florida in 2007 and was with the team for two years, he would leave the team and transfer to a junior college after being arrested in 2008 for stealing another student’s laptop. Newton then played for Blinn College for one year, leading the team to a NJCAA National Football Championship before transferring to Auburn University in 2010. While in college, Newton was also involved in a controversy when his father is alleged to have solicited over $100,000 in order for his son to attend Mississippi State.
At Auburn, Newton exploded onto the national sports scene leading the Tigers to an undefeated regular season, a victory in the Southeastern Conference and a national championship. He broke a number of records on his way to winning the coveted Heisman Trophy that same year. Only days after winning the national championship, Newton declared himself eligible for the 2011 NFL Draft. He was chosen with the first pick by the Carolina Panthers and became only the third person in history to win a national championship, Heisman Trophy and be selected with the first pick in the professional draft. Although there have been many quarterbacks who could run and pass coming out of college, Newton’s size had many scouts believing he wa a can’t-miss selection.
Newton’s success as a professional was immediate and impressive as he continued to break numerous records as a rookie quarterback, including becoming the first to throw for 400 yards in his first game, the first to throw for over 4,000 in his first season and the first rookie quarterback to rush for over 700 yards. He was named as the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2011. Although his second season did not get off to as promising a start as his first, Newton would go on to finish with a higher quarterback rating than in his first year, although the team did not enjoy much success. In his third year, however, Newton has shown great maturity in leading the Panthers to the first winning record and the playoffs.
