Russell Crowe has an estimated net worth of $65 million

Russell Crowe is a New Zealand-born Australian actor with an estimated net worth of $65 million. He has starred in films such as Gladiator, American Gangster, and Les Miserables. He is 5’11 and weighs 210 pounds. Russell Ira Crowe was born on April 7, 1964 in Wellington, New Zealand. Although born a Kiwi, Crowe’s family moved to Sydney, Australia when he was just four years old. He was indoctrinated into the world of show business by his parents who were caterers and spent a lot of time on the film and television sets. He got his first experiences in front of the camera at the age of six when he was cast as an orphan on a TV series. He would go on to get a number of small parts as a child but switched his focus to music when his family moved back to New Zealand in 1978 and he became the singer of a rock band.

With limited success as a musician – although he did record a song titled “I Want to be Like Marlon Brando” – Crowe returned to Australia to try his hand at acting as an adult and was soon cast in a production of Grease, followed up with a 2-year stint in a touring production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. By the late 1980s he began to gain attention in film with roles in movies like Prisoners of the Sun and The Crossing, both in 1990 and The Efficiency Expert, a year later. His portrayal of a monstrous skin-head in Romper Stomper in 1993 won him critical praise. Although successful in his Australia, Crowe had yet to make much of an impact in the United States, but that would change in 1995 when he starred in two big budget Hollywood movies, The Quick and the Dead and Virtuosity. Although not commercial hits, the movies paved the way for Crowe to be cast in the 1997 hit, L.A. Confidential, which signaled his arrival as a legitimate star.

That star would truly take off with his next films, The Insider (1999) alongside Al Pacino and for which he was nominated for an Academy Award, and 2000s blockbuster Gladiator, which raked in over $453 million and won Crowe a Best Actor Oscar. A year later he would be cast in A Beautiful Mind, which won the Oscar for Best Picture and earned Crowe his third Best Actor nomination.  As a legitimate Hollywood A-lister, Crowe would continue to act in major hits like Cinderella Man (2005), American Gangster (2007) and State of Play (2009). As of late he has played roles in hits like Les Miserables (2012), Man of Steel (2013) and Broken City (2013). Crowe married longtime partner Danielle Spencer in 2003 but the couple divorced in 2012. They have two sons.
