Olubowale Victor Akintimehin was born on September 21, 1984 in Washington, DC. His parents are Nigerian immigrants who came to the United States from Austria in 1979. In 2011 Wale signed to Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group (MMG). While under MMG he released his sophomore album Ambition (2011) which spawned his hit single with featuring Miguel “Lotus Flower Bomb”. Ambition was met with mixed reviews.

Wale’s third studio album The Gifted was released on June 25, 2013 and debuted at the number one spot on the Billboard 200. It also received great reviews.
