Trey Songz has an estimated net worth of $10 million

Trey Songz is an American R&B singer with an estimated net worth of $10 million. He is 6’1″ and weighs 175 pounds. Treamaine Aldon Neverson was born November 28,1984 in Petersburg, Virginia. His mother, April Tucker was a teenage mother, and Trey was subsequently raised by her and his stepfather. He moved around a lot due to being a military brat. He was shy as a child and never had aspirations to become a singer. However at the age of fourteen, people kept urging Trey to pursue music since he had an exceptional voice. In 2000, he reluctantly, entered himself into a talent contest, and happened to get discovered by a record producer who was in attendance. When Neverson graduated from high school in 2002, he signed a record contract with Atlantic records, and moved to New Jersey to work on his debut album. Atlantic gave the singer a $100,000 advance. He didn’t actually start recording the album until a year later.

His debut album, I Gotta Make It was moderately successful, selling 395,000 copies and making it to the 20th spot on the Billboard albums charts. With his newfound success, Trey bought his mother her first house. His second album Trey Day was released in 2007, and reached the 11th spot on the Billboard albums chart. Trey got nominated for a Grammy Award for Best R&B Male Vocal Performance. In 2009, Trey decided to change his look to gain more massive appeal. He chopped of his braids, gained some muscles, and traded in his baggy jeans for tailored suits. His music also changed from soulful love ballads to sexy mature music. All his efforts were not in vain because Trey’s third album Ready was a major success. It reached the third spot on the Billboard album charts. Songs like “I Need a Girl”, “Successful”, “LOL Smiley face”, “Say Aah”, “I Invented Sex”, and “Neighbors Know My Name” helped propel the album. In 2010 he won a BET Award for “Best male R&B Artist” due to his work on Ready.

Trey admits that he sacrificed originality for commercial success. He said, ” The public likes generic more than they like to admit.” he added, ” so that’s what I gave them- I gave them sexual singles and they ate it up.” Although Trey is now a commercial success, he has not forgotten about his roots. He has founded the Songz for Peace Foundation. The foundation provides positive messages for delinquent youth who are at risk for causing violence in his hometown of Petersburg, Virginia.
