Alesha Anjanete Dixon was born on October 7, 1978 in Welwyn, Garden City, United Kingdom. Dixon attended Monks Walk School and originally planned to train to become a teacher of physical education. She earned admittance to Loughborough University. However she was approached by a record producer while riding the train one day. The producer asked whether or not she could sing. Dixon decided to place her original dream on hold to pursue a career in the music industry.

In 1999 Alesha Dixon enrolled into Dance Attic, a West London dance academy. While at the dance academy she met Sabrina Washington. Washington and Dixon met Zena McNally and Su-Elise Nash at auditions and formed Mis-Teeq. The quartet signed to Telstar Records.

In 2000 the group released their debut single “Why?” Shortly afterwards, McNally left the group. Mis-Teeq decided to continue as a trio.

Their debut album Lickin’ On Both Sides was released in 2001. It spawned hits songs like “All I Want” and “Roll On/This Is How We Do It.”

Mis-Teeq’s second album Eye Candy included the singles “Scandalous” and “Get It Back”. In 2004 the trio toured the U.S. They returned to the U.K. to start recording their third album but unfortunately Telstar Records folded. Mis-Teeq was forced to release a Greatest Hits compilation under Universal Records. Shortly after the release of the compilation album, the group announced they were splitting up and pursuing solo careers.

Alesha Dixon signed a £500.000 record deal with Polydor Records. For her first album she worked with a number of high-profile producers like Paul Epworth and Richard. Her first solo studio album Fired Up was released in 2006. The lead single from the album “Lipstick” peaked at No. 14 on the UK charts. The second single “Knockdown” didn’t perform at well, peaking at No. 45. She has released two more albums The Alesha Show (2008) and The Entertainer (2010).

In addition to her music career, Alesha Dixon has worked as a model. She is signed to Select Model Management. She has appeared on the covers of magazines such as FHM, Arena, Company, and Bliss.  She also appeared as the lead model in N*E*R*D’s music video “She Wants to Move”.
