Twiggy has an estimated net worth of $50 million

Lesley “Twiggy” Lawson is an English model, actress, and singer with an estimated net worth of $50 million. She is 5’8″ and weighs 119 pounds. Lesley Hornby was born on September 19,1949 in London, England. She was raised in Neasden, a London suburb where she attended Brondesbury and Kilburn High School. Lesley’s mother taught her how to sew from a young age, and Lesley was sewed most of her garments. As a child, family and friends would call her “Twigs”, in reference to her petite 31-23-32 frame. At the age of fifteen, Lesley dropped out of high school to pursue a career as a  fashion model.

A year later, Lesley had her hair colored and cut by a celebrity hair stylist. The photographs from the hairstylist’s test shoot ended up in the Daily Express. The Daily Express spread became Lesley’s big break. The publication named her “The Face of ’66″. The world was enamored with the models thin frame, big eyes, and androgynous sex appeal. It didn’t matter that Lesley was only 5’6″ , the sixteen year old girl became a top model overnight. Nigel Davies, Lesley’s boyfriend/manager changed her name to Twiggy (derived from her childhood nickname “Twigs”). Twiggy embodied London’s “swinging sixties” mod era. The doe-eyed model soon began gracing the covers of top fashion magazines like British Vogue and Elle.

In 1967, Twiggy crossed the pond to expand her business ventures in the United States as well as take of the American fashion world. Twiggy became so popular in America that she even inspired a Barbie doll. Twiggy’s merchandise couldn’t stay on shelves long enough, consumers were purchasing Twiggy lunch boxes, board games, clothing, and fake eyelash sets. In the 70′s, Twiggy made her transition to acting. She appeared in films like The Boy Friend (1971), The Blues Brothers (1980), Madame Sousatzka (1988), and in 1983, she made her Broadway debut in the production of My One and Only.

In recent years, Twiggy has served as a judge on modeling competition show America’s Next Top Model. She is still married to her husband of 25 years Leigh Lawson. She has a daughter named Carly from a previous marriage. Twiggy is an animal rights advocate and supports cancer research.
