The Seattle Seahawks selected Russell Okung as their 6th overall pick in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He signed a six-year $48 million contract with $29 million guaranteed. In his first season playing in the NFL he was injured for the first six games due to bad ankle sprains. He played well in the remaining 10 games of the Seahawks’ 2010 season. In 2011 and 2012 Okung proved his value as a tackle for the Seahawks’ organization. In the 2013 Pro Bowl he was voted as a starter. During that season sports analysts considered him one of the top  5 left tackles.

After a successful 2013 football season, Russell Okung earned his first championship ring after a massive victory against the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XVLIII.
