Miguel Cotto is a Puerto Rican professional boxer with an estimated net worth of $15 million. He has represented Puerto Rico in the lightweight and light welterweight divisions at many boxing events. Cotto is 5’7″ and weighs 152 pounds. Miguel Angel Cotto Vazquez was born on October 29, 1980 in Providence, Rhode Island. Although born in the United States, Cotto was raised in Caguas, Puerto Rico amidst a family rich in boxing tradition. His late father, brother, uncle and cousins were all in the fight game and getting the ring for Cotto was a natural as riding a bike.  He trained from an early age and soon became a top amateur winning several international competitions and representing Puerto Rico in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.

Success came early to Cotto as a professional as he bashed former world title contender John Brown, including a knockdown in the second round. His career was briefly sidetracked after a car accident in 2001 – he broke his arm and was hospitalized – but he got back in the ring and won his first championship, the vacant WBC International Light Welterweight title, in 2003. Cotto would go on to win his first 32 professional fights and pick up the WBA Welterweight title but lost his first fight to Antonio Margarito in 2008 by TKO in the 11^th round, after leading early on in the fight.

Since losing his first fight, Cotto’s success has been checkered as he’s compiled a 6-3 records, with several high profile losses, including to Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. , although he did avenge his loss to Margarito with a TKO in the 10^th round in 2011. After his loss to Austin Trout in 2012, there was some speculation that Cotto might hang up his gloves but his follow up win against Delvin Rodriguez in 2013 showed that he still has rounds to go.
