Michelle Kwan has gone on to win five World Championships in figure skating (1996, 1998, 2000, 2001, and 2003), the most by anyone in the ladies’ division since Carol Heiss’, with whom she is tied. Kwan has won nine U.S. Figure Skating Championships (1996, 1998-2005). She has broken U.S. figure skating records by winning eight consecutive U.S Championship titles (1998-2005) and 12 consecutive U.S. Championship medals (1994-2005). Michelle Kwan earned the Silver medal the the 1998 Nagano Olympics and the Bronze medal at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics.
On January 19, 2103 Michelle Kwan married Clay Pell, director of strategic planning for the White House’s National Security staff. She wore a one-of-a-kind mermaid gown designed by Vera Wang. The dress was made of silk organza and featured a lace appliqué.
