Johan Santana has an estimated net worth of $65 million

Johan Santana is a Venezuelan professional baseball player with an estimated net worth of $65 million. Santana is currently a Major League Baseball free agent. He is 6’0 and weighs 210 pounds. Johan Alexander Santana Araque was born on March 13, 1979 in Tovar, Venezuela. Santana’s father was an engineer who played semi-pro baseball in a remote part of Venezuela. Although he played the game from a young age, he did not start pitching until his mid teens. After experiencing success with his local youth team, Santana began attracting attention of baseball scouts, including one from the Houston Astros who braved a 10-hour drive to get to the Santana home and tell the youth he had the chops to make it in the big time.

In 1995, the Astros signed the 16-year-old Santana and moved him the Dominican Republic where he would play in the Dominican Summer League in 1996. He was a success from early on and a year later he was promoted to the Astros’ minor league club in Florida. After some success in the minor leagues over the next several years, Santana was picked up by the Minnesota Twins in 2000. He showed flashes and joined the major league squad that year and kept his spot the following season, mostly in the bullpen. In 2002, Santana posted a 8-6 record with a 2.99 ERA and helped the surprise Twins win the pennant. He would continue to impress in the next season, both as  a starter and from the bullpen and posted a 12-3 record.

Santana became pitching royalty the following year (2004) when he won the Cy Young Award after compiling a 20-6 record (10-0 in the second half of the year). But he was far from done coming back with a strong year in 2005 and winning the Cy Young for a second time in 2006, after completing the Major League Pitching Triple Crown – lowest ERA ,most strikeouts and wins. In 2008, Santana was traded to the New York Mets and the team agreed to a six-year, $137.5 million contract.  He finished the year with a 16-7 record. Since then, however, Santana has been snake-bitten with injuries missing large portions of some years and the entire 2011 and 2013 seasons, leaving his return to the majors questionable. Santana is married and has three children.
