Jay “Young Jeezy” Jenkins is an American hip-hop artist with an estimated net worth of $15 million. He is 5’9″ and weighs 215 pounds. Jay Jenkins was born September 28, 1977 in Columbia, South Carolina. His family moved to Atlanta, Georgia when he was a young boy. Due to his parent’s separation, he spent a lot of time being transferred between family members. He described his childhood as “empty”. In 1994, Jenkins was caught with narcotics and had to spend nine months at YCA (Youth Challenge Academy), a boot camp in Fort Stewart, Georgia. Jenkins initially only had aspirations of working in a background role in the music industry. He preferred business to rapping. He founded Corporate Thugz Entertainment ,which promoted Cash Money Records album releases. He expanded his role in the music business to becoming the head of an independent label and finally becoming an artist himself. He started selling mix-tapes and albums. Come Shop Wit Me (2003) , which was independently distributed reportedly sold about 50,000 copies. Due to the success of his underground album, Young Jeezy got signed to Bad Boy Records in the group Boyz n da Hood. The self-titled album Boyz n da Hood was released in June 2005. It peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200 album charts.

Young Jeezy broke away from the rap group to focus on his solo career. He released his first major album Let’s Get It:Thug Motivation 101 on July 26, 2005 while the hype was still buzzing from him being in the Boyz n da Hood group. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 album charts. The album became certified platinum by the RIAA. Young Jeezy’s second album The Inspiration was released on December 12, 2006. The album included hot singles like “Go Getta” and “I Luv It” which allowed it to top the Billboard 200, selling more than 352,000 copies in the first week. This album became certified platinum as well. Young Jeezy released  The Recession in 2008 and it became his second number one album. In 2011, he released  TM:103: Hustlerz Ambition which included hit singles like “Lose My Mind” , and “Ballin” featuring Lil Wayne. TM:103: Hustlerz Ambition debuted at number three on the Billboard 200
