Juaquin Malphurs was born on May 31, 1986 in South Jamaica, Queens, New York. He was raised in the Riverdale, Georgia, in the Atlanta area. He is the son of Debra Antney, Gucci Mane’s former manager. Waka Flocka got introduced to rapper Gucci Mane at the age of 19, and the two became close.

Waka Flock Flame is a supporter of the animal rights organization, PETA. In 2011 the rapper posed nude in an advertisement for the organization. The advertisement advocated for boycotting against the killing of animals for fur. The photo highlighted Waka Flocka’s extensive body art and read “Ink no Mink”.
