Slim Thug is an American rapper with an estimated net worth of $2 million. He is 6’6″ and weighs 250 pounds. Stayve Jerome Thomas was born on September 8, 1980 in Houston, Texas. As a teenager Thomas began rapping. He took on the name Slim Thug because he was tall and lanky; the thug part came from people’s assumptions that he was a thug due to his braids and sunglasses. By the time he was seventeen, Slim Thug was performing his freestyle raps at local high school parties.
In the late 1990s Slim Thug began his rap career with Swishahouse. After realizing how much money he could make by distributing his own mix-tapes, he amicably parted ways with Swishahouse and formed Boss Hogg Outlawz, his independent label. Although he was a rapper, Slim Thug was also into business. He purchased two record stores and worked in real estate while building up his rap career.
After many delays, Slim Thug released his debut album, Already Platinum, in July 2005. Singles from the album included “3 Kings” featuring T.I. and Bun B and”I Ain’t Heard of That” featuring Bun B and Pharrell. It debuted No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and sold 130,000 copies in tis first week.
Slim Thug gained mainstream hip-hop attention when he appeared as a featured artist alongside Paul Wall on Mike Jone’s track “Still Tippin’”. He gained massive popularity after being featured on Beyonce’s No. 1 single “Check on It” and Gwen Stefani’s “Luxurious”. In 2006 he won an MTV Video Music Award with Beyonce for the “Check on It” video.
Under Bpss Hogg Outlawz, Slim Thug has released three more albums: Boss of All Bosses (2009), Tha Thug Show (2010), and Boss Life (2013).
