Brian Daniel Carenard, better known by his stage name Saigon, is an American rapper with an estimated net worth of $200 thousand. He is 5’7″ and weighs 187 pounds. In the late 1990s Saigon was convicted of first degree assault after shooting at someone in a bar. He was sentenced jail time at Napanoch’s Eastern Correctional Facility. One day while hanging in the recreational yard Saigon met a fellow inmate by the name of Hakim. Hakim was known for rapping around the yard, and he had a reputation for rapping positive content and using a vast vocabulary in his rhymes. Saigon was so impressed with Hakim’s style that he began writing raps himself. Saigon’s mix-tapes earned enough underground buzz for him to secure a recording contract with Atlantic Records in 2004. Although he received a co-sign from super-producer Just Blaze and worked with mega artists such as Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Kool G Rap, Atlantic continued to push back the release of his debut album The Greatest Story Never Told.
Saigon claimed that the record label wanted him to make more radio-friendly songs and he refused to compromise his artistry. So instead of releasing his debut album Saigon continued to do shows, perform radio freestyles, and feed the streets with mix-tapes. He also landed a recurring role as himself on the HBO series Entourage.
In 209 he signed a record deal with independent label, Amalgam Digital. On February 15, 2011 he released his long-awaited album The Greatest Story Never Told with Suburban Noize Records. The next year he followed up with The Greatest Story Never Told Chapter 2: Bread and Circuses. The Greatest Story Never Told Chapter 3:The Troubled Times of Brian Carenard is set to be released May 13, 2014.
Saigon joined the cast of VH1’s Love and Hip-Hop New York reality series during its fourth season.
