Nathaniel Wilson, better known by his stage name Kool G Rap, is an American hip-hop artist with an estimated net worth of $1.5 million. Nathaniel Thomas Wilson was born on July 20, 1968 in Queens, New York.  Kool G Rap grew up in the impoverished Corona neighborhood of Queens, New York. As a teenager he watched his friends fall victim to the streets and most either ended up dead or in jail. He realized that he was on the same path of destruction so he began rapping in the mid-1980s.

Kool G Rap teamed up with DJ Polo in his early career and formed the Juice Crew. The Juice Crew’s debut album Road to Riches (1989) included the underground hit “The Symphony”. Subsequent albums released by the Juice Crew were Wanted: Dead or Alive (1990) and Live and Let Die (1992). All of the crew’s albums are considered hip-hop classics.

In 1993 Kool G Rap embarked on his solo career. His debut solo album 4,5,6 (1995) contained features from Nas, MF Grimm, and B-1. His debut album was his most successful commercially, peaking at No. 24 on the US Billboard 200. The rest of his discography includes: Roots of Evil (1998), The Giancana Story (2002), Half a Klip (2007), Riches, Royalty, Respect (2011), and Once Upon A Crime (2013, with Necro).

Kool G Rap is often considered one of the best MCs from hip-hop’s golden age. Popular hip-hop acts such as Eminem, Jay-Z, Nas, and The Notorious B.I.G. have cited Kool G Rap as being one of their major influences.

Kool G Rap briefly dated former video vixen/author Karrine Steffans; they have a son together. He also has other children.
