Joe Budden is an American hip-hop artist and reality television personality with an estimated net worth of $4.5 million. He is 6′ and weighs 175 pounds. Joseph Anthony Budden II was born on August 31, 1980 in Harlem, New York. He was raised in Bayonne, New Jersey. Although Budden was an exceptional student, he was uninterested in school. He began abusing drugs, and after a confrontation with his mother, he entered rehab on July 3, 1997.
After his stint in rehab, Budden began freestyle rapping and competing in rap battles. He eventually earned a name for himself for his skills on the battle rap scene, and made appearances on New York mix-tapes for popular DJs like DJ Kayslay, DJ Clue, and Cutmaster C.
Joe Budden signed a record deal with Def Jam Recordings. He dropped his debut album Joe Budden in 2003. The album contained Budden’s most popular single “Pump It Up” which garnered him a Grammy nomination. “Pump It Up” was also featured on the 2 Fast 2 Furious soundtrack and the video games Def Jam Vendetta, Def Jam Fight for NY, and Madden NFL 2004. The single “Fire” was played in the film Mean Girls; another single from the album, “Drop Drop” made it on the soundtrack for Cradle 2 the Grave.
He left Def Jam Recording after continuos push backs of his sophomore album, The Growth. The label did not agree with the direction of his music. In December 2007, Budden signed a multi-album deal with Amalgam Digital. While under Amalgam Digital he released the album Padded Room (2009) and the mix-tapes Mood Muzik 3: The Album, Halfway House, and Escape Route. In 2013 Joe Budden dropped his second album No Love Lost which included the lead single “She Don’t Put It Down” which features singer Tank and Lil Wayne.
Outside of his solo work, the rapper is part of the hip-hop super-group Slaughterhouse, which includes rappers Royce da 5’9″, Joell Ortiz, and Crooked I. Slaughterhouse has released two albums, Slaughterhouse (2009) and Welcome to: Our House (2012).
Joe Budden is also a cast member of VH1′s reality series Love & Hip Hop: New York.
