At a young age he moved to Atlanta, Georgia with his mother. Davis enjoyed writing poetry and by the age of 14 he started writing rap songs.

The lead single “Wasted” featuring Plies peaked at number three on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, making it his most successful single to date. Other singles released from the album were “Bingo”, “Lemonade”, and “Spotlight”. On October 2, 2009 MTV ranked Gucci Mane as the sixth “Hottest MC in the Game”.
Gucci Mane has gone on to release many mix-tapes and albums and work with music artists like Mariah Carey, Rocko, Yo Gotti, 2 Chainz, Waka Flocka Flame, Future, Usher, and many more. He is the founder and CEO of 1017 Brick Squad Records.
