Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, has some rather stylish shoes to fill as the newest princess of England. Her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, was known for her fashionable taste in clothing and effortlessly chic style. Luckily for the Duchess, designers beg her to wear their clothing in the hope that it will photographed—everyone wants to emulate the darling Princess. But Middleton refuses to accept free clothing, she pays full price for her wardrobe. Even though the Princess’s sartorial tastes skew expensive, commoners are willing to spend the money they need to look like the Duchess of Cambridge. Here are her most expensive looks:

5) The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration Dress: $3,570

Kate celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in bold style. She chose a red, bespoke Alexander McQueen dress that was altered to incorporate a longer hemline and sleeves, LK Bennett pumps and a hat by Sylvia Fletcher. The dress was originally $2,045 before the alterations, the shoes are $290, and the hat was $500.


4) The BAFTA Brits to Watch Dress: $4,686

Kate chose a pale lilac Alexander McQueen pleated chiffon dress for the BAFTA Brits to Watch awards. The dress was paired with a Jimmy Choo Ubai clutch in Champagne glitter ($595) and matching open-toe Jimmy Choo Vamp platform sandals ($750). The Duchess borrowed a pair of earrings from the Queen to wear to the event.

Kate stunned the fashion world when she stepped in this teal dress from Jenny Packham (approximately $4,620). The lace-backed bespoke dress went perfectly with a pair of Jimmy Choo sandals ($720). This dress has been duplicated and replicated by multiple designers, as it is the 2nd most popular dress Kate has ever worn.


2) Sun Military Awards dress: $7,049

Middleton looked divine at the Sun Military Awards in a black velvet gown by Alexander McQueen. The dress cost an estimated $6,600 as it was a custom gown. She paired the dress with a bag from Jaime Mascaro for $145 and velvet pumps by Prada for $720.
