Shawn Carter (better known as Jay Z) recently launched his “New York Holiday” Barneys New York collaboration which features items that cost more than the average American’s annual salary. Rap critics are panning Jay Z for his exorbitantly priced items suggesting that the hip-hop mogul has lost touch with his former self. Jay Z grew up in the Marcy Houses of Brooklyn, N.Y., selling drugs and making mix tapes and now he hocks $675 sunglasses. Fans of the rapper are quick to point out that while the items are high-ticket items, 100% of the proceeds go to Jay Z’s charity the Shawn Carter Foundation. Here are a few of the highest priced items from Jay Z’s collaboration:

 JAY Z + Balmain Tee Shirt: $995

Jay Z and Balmain’s Olivier Roustering designed a luxe tee that combines street wear with military panache. The shirt is made of thick cotton and features stud-snap lambskin epaulettes and a padded, military embroidered Barneys New York Holiday emblem. The shirt is limited edition and also comes in black. It can be yours for a mere $995.

JAY Z + Rick Owens Jacket: $58,000

 Jay Z and Rick Owens crafted their $58,000 Mollino jacket out of crocodile skin and cotton/silk twill. The jacket is handcrafted in Italy and features a face-framing funnel collar, an industrial zipper that reveals a hidden pouch and “tough-Goth” zippers at the front arm closures, arm, and cuffs. Jay Z recommends wearing it with everything from “sweats to sharkskin”. This item is final sale and no returns or exchanges, so make sure you like it before you spend almost $60,000 on it.

Swiss watchmaker Hublot teamed up with Jay Z to create the 18k Gold Shawn Carter by Hublot 45mm Classic Fusion watch for $33,900. The watch features an open dial that allows you to see into the mechanics of the watch. The watch is a sleeker, stripped-down version of a typical Hublot but still features the maker’s signature bold hands and hour makers. The watch also features an alligator strap (to match your Rick Owens jacket we assume.)

 This python brimmed leather hat is an $875 collaboration between Jay Z and Just Don. The leather sports cap is embroidered with the word “Brooklyn” and features an adjustable python strap and an embroidered Barneys New York Holiday emblem. The hat is limited edition, with no returns or exchanges, and cannot be mailed to California.
