Prince has an estimated net worth of $300 million

Prince is an American singer-songwriter and musician with an estimated net worth of $300 million. He is 5’2″ and weighs 120 pounds. Prince Rogers Nelson was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 7, 1958. He was named after the jazz band that his father performed with, the Prince Roger Trio. His father played piano, and Prince followed in his father’s footsteps and began learning to play instruments at a young age. He wrote his first song at the age of seven. Prince started performing in his cousin’s band  called 94 East. He soon began recording demo-tapes and shopping them around to different music labels. By the time Prince was a seventeen he signed a recording contract with Warner Brothers Records.

Prince released his debut album For You in 1978. He didn’t receive major success until the release of his sophomore album Prince (1979). The singer’s sophomore album went platinum due the popularity of the smash singles “Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?” and “I Wanna Be Your Lover”. Prince’s music was controversial because he infused religious ideals and sexuality into his songs. However, controversy sells, and Prince enjoyed success on his next three albums Dirty Mind (1990), Controversy (1981), and 1999 (1982). 1999 sold over 3 million copies, and became certified triple platinum per RIAA standards. Prince’s flamboyant stage persona, androgynous appearance, breathtaking musical skills, and funky music swept the world and he became a global sensation.

In 1984, Prince made his film debut when he released the movie Purple Rain and the Purple Rain album at the same time. Songs like “Purple Rain”, “When Doves Cry”, and “Let’s Go Crazy” topped music charts and soon Prince simultaneously had the number one album and number one film in the U.S.

Since Purple Rain, Prince has released twenty-six studio albums-some of which include the critically-acclaimed Sign “O” the Times (1987), Diamonds and Pearls (1991), and Musicology (2004). Prince has sold over 100 million records worldwide. He has won seven Grammy Awards, and Oscar, and a Golden Globe. In 2004, Prince was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame or his contributions to the genre.

Prince is unmarried. He has no living children. In 1997, his newborn child named Boy Gregory Nelson died a week after birth due to rare skull defect. Prince is still performing to sold-out concerts worldwide. He is a self-proclaimed perfectionist. Prince is said to write, compose, and produce the majority of his music. He even plays most of the instruments on the album recordings. Prince currently lives outside of Minneapolis, Minnesota when he isn’t performing.
