Lydia Marie Hearst-Shaw was born on September 19, 1984 in Wilton, Connecticut. Hearst-Shaw was born into a wealthy family. She is an heiress to the publishing fortune established by her great-grandfather, William Randolph Hearst. After graduating from Wilton High School, Hearst-Shaw matriculated to Sacred Heart University where she studied communications technology. While attending the university, Hearst-Shaw was discovered by famed fashion photographer Steven Meisel.

Lydia Hearst-Shaw landed her first modeling job posing on the cover of Italian Vogue. She has gone on to cover multiple covers of Vogue’s international editions. Hearst-Shaw has modeled for the fashion houses of DKNY, Prada, Moschino, Louis Vuitton, and Puma to name a few. She has also graced the cover of Harper’s Bazaar, GQ, and Elle. The model posed topless in the May 2009 issue of GQ Italia as well as Vogue.

Lydia  Anne Vyalitsyna served as a columnist for the New York Post’s Page Six magazine.

Hearst-Shaw got a minor role on the CW’s hit show Gossip Girl, as Lily can der Woodsen’s stylish interior designer in the Season 1 finale. In 2008 she also appeared in Tara Subkoff’s short fashion film for Bebe about a starlet who is stalked by the paparazzi. She starred in an independent film entitled The Last International Playboy (2009).

Oxygen is set to premiere a reality show in early 2014 called The Face in which Hearst-Shaw will serve as a supermodel coach for the show’s competitors. The show will also feature supermodels Naomi Campbell and  Anne Vyalitsyna.
