Karl Lagerfeld has an estimated net worth of $125 million

Karl Lagerfeld is a German fashion designer with an estimated net worth of $125 million. He is 5’10″ and weighs 170 pounds. Karl Lagerfeldt was reportedly born on September 10,1933 in Hamburg, Germany. The fashion icon has never officially released his actual date of birth. Lagerfeldt was born into a wealthy family. His father, Christian Lagerfeldt, made his fortune by introducing condensed milk to Germany. His mother was an accomplished violinist and encouraged her children to get involved with intellectual activities. When the Nazi’s occupied Germany in the 1930s, Lagerfeldt’s family moved to a rural town in northern Germany where they were shielded away from the Hitler’s atrocities.

As a young child, Lagerfeldt showed an interest in fashion and design. He would cut out pictures from fashion magazines and criticize what his schoolmate’s wore to class. When Lagerfeldt was a teen, his family moved back to Hamburg. This is when he became fully immersed into high fashion. With the blessing of his parents, Lagerfeldt moved to Paris at the age of fourteen to further his career in fashion. Early in his career he dropped the “t” from his last name. He felt that Lagerfeld was more commercial than Lagerfeldt.

Within two years of living in Paris, Lagerfeld won a fashion competition after submitting sketches and fabric samples. He was soon working as a full-time junior assistant for French designer, Pierre Balmain. He worked for the French designer for three years until branching out on his own. Lagerfeld began designing collections for Fendi and  Chloe. He oversaw Fendi’s fur line. The young designer became known in the fashion world for his innovative designing style.

Over the years, Lagerfeld designed for many fashion houses and earned a reputation for jumping from one fashion brand to another. He began working with failing fashion brand, Chanel. Few thought it was possible, but he revamped the brand with an alluring ready-to-wear line. He breathed life into a dying brand, and helped to position Chanel as one of the fashion industry’s top contenders. Due to Lagerfeld’s highly structured style, he is also the creative force behind the house of Fendi. Karl Lagerfeld is a fashion visionary who is always one step ahead of the curve. He continues to predict tomorrow’s most fashionable trends.
