Terrell Owens has an estimated net worth of $0

Terrell Owens is a former American professional football player with an estimated net worth of $0. Owens played 15 seasons in the National Football League. He is 6’3 and weighs 224 pounds. Terrell Eldorado Owens was born on December 7, 1973 in Alexander City, Alabama. Terrell’s parents separated when he was very young and he moved in with his mother and grandmother, along with three siblings. Although he had a natural inclination towards sports and football in particular, his grandmother would not let him play as a child. In high school, however, he excelled in football, baseball and basketball. He attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and continued to play multiple sports, including playing in the 1995 NCAA Basketball Tournament.

After a tepid freshman year, Terrell started to distinguish himself in his sophomore year, followed with a strong junior season and capped off his college career playing in the Senior Bowl after another stellar year and breaking the school’s record for single season receptions.  He entered the 1996 draft and was taken in the 3rd round by the San Francisco 49ers. Not much was expected from Terrell initially, but he would go on to become a consistent contributor in his rookie season, including catching his first two touchdowns in the same game.  Terrell was thrust into the spotlight in his second season, when his idol and teammate Jerry Rice went down early in the season with an injury. He would go on to score 8 touchdowns and help the team finish with 13 wins. In his third season, he would break 1,000 yards receiving for the first time and catch 14 touchdowns. He also had a memorable game-winning touchdown catch in the playoffs against the Green Bay Packers in a game in which he had dropped numerous passes early on. Terrell would have 8 successful seasonswith San Francisco before moving to the Philadelphia Eagles from 2004 to 2005, then to the Dallas Cowboys for three years (2006-2008), before playing a year with the Buffalo Bills and ending his career with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Terrell’s great success on the field was matched by his penchant for controversy on and off the gridiron. He became notorious for his original and controversial touchdown celebrations. He was also brash and infuriated opponents and teammates alike. Terrell became a larger than life celebrity, appearing in commercials, at celebrity events and even creating a controversy for appearing with Nicollette Sheridan of ABC’s Desperate Housewives in a racy skit ahead of Monday Night Football. Terrell is the father of four children to as many women and has been in trouble repeatedly for not paying child support. Although he earned over $70 million during his professional career, in 2011 Terrell told a judge he was broke, in part because he had to pay $60,000 a month in child support and almost as much in mortgage.
