Shaquille O’Neal has an estimated net worth of $250 million dollars

Shaquille O’Neal is a former professional basketball star and current television personality with an estimated net worth of $250 million. O’Neal is 7’1 and weighs 324 pounds. Shaquille “Shaq” Rashaun O’Neal was born on March 6, 1972 in Newark, New Jersey. Shaq and his biological father, Joseph Toney, have never had any relationship as the latter was routinely in trouble with the law and in jail when O’Neal was an infant. Instead, Shaq considers Phillip Harrison, a retired army sergeant, his father and his mother was Lucille O’Neal. Shaq’s family eventually moved San Antonio, Texas and he led his high school team to a state championship on his way to becoming a McDonald’s All-American. His size and strength, coupled with uncanny athleticism for a big man, made him among the top prospects in the country and he agreed to attend Louisiana State University, where he became a two-time All-American and was named as the Adolph Rupp Player of the Year in 1991.

Shaq left school early and entered the 1992 NBA Draft where he was selected with the first overall pick by the Orlando Magic. He was an immediate force in the league, averaging 23.4 points, 13.9 rebounds and 3.5 blocks on his way to being named 1993 Rookie of the Year and being voted as a starter in the All-Star game. The NBA had seldom seen such a physical presence as Shaq simply overpowered all the players before him. In his second year, Shaq was even more impressive, tallying 29.4 points and leading the Magic to the playoffs for the first time in their history. He continued to improve the next year, leading the league in scoring and getting his team to the NBA Finals, although they eventually lost to the Houston Rockets. Shaq would play with the Magic until the 1996-1997 season  before becoming a free agent and deciding to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers on a 7-year, $121 million contract.

Shaq enjoyed his greatest success with the Lakers winning three straight championships (2000, 2001 and 2002) after he was paired with Kobe Bryant and Coach Phil Jackson. Despite the success, the team broke up when the Lakers failed to win a championship in the 2003 and 2004 seasons and traded Shaq to Miami. With the Heat he would win his fourth and final titles in 2006. Shaq was again traded in 2008 and spent the last part of his career moving periodically and unable to make much of an impact. Since early in his career, Shaq’s charismatic personality made him ripe for television, film and endorsements. He starred in several feature films, including Blue Chips and Kazaam, recorded numerous high-selling rap albums and endorsed major brands like Pepsi, Reebok and others. Since his retirement in 2011, he has been a fixture on television shows, including two reality projects, Shaq Vs. and Shaq’s Big Challenge.
