Lance Armstrong is a former professional American road racing cyclist with an estimated net worth of $125 million. Lance is 5’10″ and weighs 165 pounds. Lance Edward Armstrong was born on September 18, 1971 in Plano, Texas.  Lance’s biological father was a route manager for The Dallas Morning News, while his mother was a secretary. Lance’s parents divorced when he was two years old and Lance was later adopted by  his mother’s new husband Terry Armstrong. Lance was married in 1997 and has three children. After his divorce he had a high-profile relationship with singer Sheryl Crow. At 12, Lance began swimming competitively, finishing fourth in the Texas state 1,500 freestyle. Soon afterward he became aware of triathlons and re-focused his efforts on that sport, winning the Iron Kids Triathlon at age 13. At 16 he became a professional triathlete and would go on to become the sprint-course triathlon champion at age 18 and 19, in 1989 and 1990.

In 1992, Lance joined the Motorola Cycling Team where he would go on to win 10 1-day events and the UCI Road World Championships in 1993. That same year, he won his first stage in the Tour de France, although he retired from the race in the 12th stage. Lance would go on to collect several more races in the United States and Europe and took part in the 1996 Olympics, finishing 6th. That year he signed a 2-year, $2 million contract just before being diagnosed with testicular cancer. The cancer spread to his lungs, abdomen and brain and he had surgery to save his life. Although he was given a 40 percent chance of survival, less only months later he was declared cancer free.

After his recovery, Lance started training in the Appalachian Mountains and in 1998 finished fourth in the Vuelta a Espana. A year later, in 1999, he won his first Tour de France, beating the second place rider by more than seven minutes and becoming only the second American to win it. Lance would go on to win the next six Tour de France’s setting the all-time record with 7 titles, although the titles would eventually be stripped by the United States Anti-Doping Agency in 2012. Lance admitted to many of the doping allegations in 2013. He founded the Livestrong Foundation for cancer patients.
