Dwight Howard’s estimated net worth is $65 million.
Dwight Howard is an American professional basketball player with an estimated net worth of $65 million. Howard is 6’11″ and weighs 265 pounds and currently plays center for the Houston Rockets. Dwight David Howard was born on December 8, 1985 in Atlanta, Georgia. Dwight comes from a very athletic family as his father, who is also a Georgia State Trooper, was the athletic director of a prep school, while his mother played on the inaugural women’s basketball team for Morris Brown College. Dwight has a son, Braylon, with Royce Reed, a former NBA cheerleader who was a cast member on VH1’s Basketball Wives. His large frame and athleticism made him a natural for the sport and he excelled at his father’s school, leading the team to a state title and being awarded several high school player of the year awards in 2004. Instead of choosing to go to college, Dwight opted to go directly to the NBA and entered the 2004 Draft where he was selected with the first pick by the Orlando Magic.
Dwight had an immediate impact on the team, averaging 12 points and 10 rebounds a game and starting all 82 games his rookie season. He was the first high school player to start ever game for his team in league history. During the offseason after his first year, Dwight put on about 20 pounds of muscle and became even more of a force in his second season. Both his scoring and rebounding improved significantly in 2005 and he would make similar strides his third year when he was selected as an NBA All-Star for the first time and led his team to the playoffs. His success and that of the Magic continued in the next three years as Dwight was named an All-Star perennially, won the 2008 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, led the team to three consecutive Southeast Division titles and got them to the 2009 NBA Finals, where they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Although Dwight would continue to star for the Magic from 2010 to 2012, the team’s fortunes declined and he eventually pushed for a trade to another team. In the summer of 2012 he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers and joined Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash on a team that was supposed to vie for a championship. Injuries to several of the team’s players, including Dwight, caused them to underachieve and he decided not to re-sign with the Lakers the following year, instead joining the Houston Rockets in 2013. Dwight’s high-profile career, large stature and amiable personality have made him a natural to endorse many major brands and he has appeared on ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, as well as a well-received commercial for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
