Nia Long is an American actress with an estimated net worth of $13 million. Long is 5’2 and weighs 120 pounds  Nitata “Nia” Long was born on October 30, 1970  in Brooklyn, New York, to mother Talita, who is a teacher and printmaker, and father Doughtry “Doc” Long, a high school teacher and poet. Long is of Afro-Trinidadian descent and her name, Nia, is one of the seven days of Kwanzaa, which means purpose in Swahili. At two years old, Nia’s parents divorced and by age seven,  she and her mother relocated to  Los Angeles where a young Nia studied ballet, music and eventually fell in love with acting.

Nia grabbed numerous bit parts on hit shows including, Diff’rent Strokes, and in 1991, landed her small screen big break starring as “Kathryn Speakes” on popular soap opera,  Guiding Light. After her four year run on the soap,  Nia gained TV popularity playing Will Smith’s girlfriend, ”Lisa Wilkes”  on The Fresh Prince of Bel-AirThe early nineties also saw Long debuting on the silver screen with supporting roles in films such as Friday, Made In America and, the acclaimed Boyz n the Hood.  In the next decade, Nia continued building her cinematic resume starring in box office hits like Big Momma’s House, Are We There Yet? and Soul Food.

Over the last twenty years , Nia has won over fans and critics alike with numerous accolades for her work, including nominations from the BET Comedy Awards and Black Reel Awards, as well as three Image Award wins. Nia enjoys spending time with her two young sons, and passionately donates her efforts to supporting the cause, PETA.
