He is 6′ and weighs 340 pounds. Jorge García was born on April 28, 1973 in Omaha, Nebraska. García  is of mixed Cuban and Chilean descent. His mother is a professor and his father is a doctor. García  grew up in Southern California where he attended San Clemente High School. He graduated as “Triton of the Year”, the school’s highest honor given to a senior. In 1995 García earned a Communications Studies degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.

After graduating from college, García worked as an actor in Los Angeles building his resumé with various uncredited roles beginning from 19997. In the early 2000s his career started to take flight a bit with guest roles on television programs like Spin City, Columbo, and a role as Racoon Head in the film Tales from the Crapper (2003).

García started to gain notoriety in 2003 when he landed the role of Hector Lopez on the CBS show Becker. Afterwards he appeared on HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm as a drug dealer. The producers of Lost saw him on Curb Your Enthusiasm the night before they did the casting for the show. They were so impressed with his performance on the HBO program, that they created the character of Hugo Reyes, specifically for him. He was the first actor to be cast for Lost.

García’s portrayal of Hugo Reyes earned him a slew of nominations, some of which include: 4-time nominee for Teen Choice Award for Choice TV Sidekick, 2-time nominee for Imagen Award for Best Supporting Actor, ALMA Award nominee for Outstanding Supporting Actor-Television Series, Mini-Series, or Television Movie.

He won the ALMA Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Television Series (2006), the ALMA Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Television Series (2008), and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series (2007).

García’s next major role came in 2012 when he was cast as Dr. Diego Soto on FOX’s series Alcatraz. The show was cancelled after only 13 episodes. Since the cancellation of Alcatraz, García has landed a minor role on the ABC series Once Upon a Time as Anton, the Giant. He has made guest appearances on Californication and Hawaii Five-O. He also starred as Steve Wozniak in the internet movie iSteve (2013). García performs stand-up when he is not acting.
