Jerry Stiller is an American actor and comedian with an estimated net worth of $12.5 million. He is best known for acting in roles on the hit sitcoms King of Queens and Seinfeld. He is 5’5″ and weighs 150 pounds. Gerald Isaac Stiller was born on June 8, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York. The son of a bus driver and a housewife, Stiller was the oldest of four children. Stiller attended Syracuse University and was a drama major who graduated in 1950. Stiller went straight into theater after graduation and when he married Anne Meara in 1954 they formed a comedy duo that would eventually be part of The Compass Players, which was the predecessor of the renowned The Second City.
His relationship with Meara provided material for their comedic act which would go on to be featured often on the Ed Sullivan Show. Throughout the 60s and 70s, Stiller would continue to work steadily, but in the 1980s, at an age when most actors would begin to wind down their careers, Stiller was reborn with what would be his most enduring role. He was cast as “Frank Costanza,” the father of George Costanza (played by Jason Alexander) on the sitcom Seinfeld. The show would become one of the most successful shows in television history and Stiller’s character would win an Emmy for his role in 1997.
After Seinfeld ended, Stiller was set to retire but was lured back to the small screen by Kevin James in the sitcom The King of Queens. He was an integral part of the show for its full 9 year run. As well as his amazing late-career sitcom prowess, Stiller has also starred in popular commercials – including as football legend Vince Lombardi – and movies like Zoolander and the Secret of the Andes in the new century. Stiller is still married to Meara and they have two children, including Ben Stiller, one of the most popular comedic actors of recent decades. He has starred in several films with his son, including most recently The Heartbreak Kid in 2007.
