David Hyde Pierce was born on April 3, 1959 in Saratoga Springs, New York.  He is the youngest of four children born to George and Laura Maries Pierce. David Hyde Pierce made his big television debut in the early 1990s on Norman Lear’s political comedy The Powers That Be. Pierce played a congressman. Despite positive reviews from critics, the series had a short run on air.

Partly due to his close resemblance to Kelsey Grammer, Pierce was cast as his younger brother, Dr. Niles Crane on the television series Fraiser. During the show’s run he won four Emmy awards for his performance as Dr. Niles Crane.

At the 61st Tony Awards David Hyde Pierce won the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical for his work in the Broadway production of Curtains.
